Trayner Pinhole Glasses to help with a natural vision improvement

Pinhole Glasses can help with many focusing problems, even if you already use spectacles or lenses

Trayner logo black .png

Body & Mind Shop supply Trayner Pinhole Glasses who have been manufacturing high quality pinhole glasses in the UK since 1988. The glasses encourage your eyes to learn how to focus on their own again, leading to improvement in short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness and presbyopia.

Our products differ considerably from the cheap copies. All of the holes in our lenses have been individually drilled, which creates perpendicular holes with matt sides. This makes looking through the holes easy for the eyes, without any distracting reflections. The size and spacing of the holes is based on the optics of the human eye in order to encourage long term improvement in vision, rather than just an initial sharpening of the image. Trayner glasses have ophthalmic frames, as sold to opticians.

What are Trayner Pinhole Glasses?

Trayner pinhole glasses consist of conventional spectacle frames with the lenses replaced by opaque screens containing lots of small holes. Looking through the pinholes immediately makes blurred vision sharper. This can help people learn to focus where they had previously needed glasses.

How do Trayner pinhole glasses Work?

When the eye receives a blurred image it moves the focus, looking for a sharper image. If this is not found the eye is left unfocused. With the Trayner pinholes the image is slightly clearer so the eye can learn to focus again exercising the focusing muscles. With regular practice the eyes are able to see more without glasses.

The Trayner pinhole glasses use time and tested pinhole patterns and spacing developed from many years of extensive research. Trayner pin hole technology and design, naturally facilitate effective focus through a unique perforation so when you look through the small pin holes the eyes naturally exercise and change focus helping to relieve the eyeballs from there previous focus. By looking through trayner pinhole glasses, you can train your eyessight with low vision, selectively focusing on each point, by using similar techniques to the Bates eye exercises to stimulate the optic nerve through a small hole in the lens.

Improve your eyesight naturally pinhole glasses have been developed from the traditional pinhole principal used in some eye tests. Our scientific research has enabled us to maximise their vision improvement effect. Many Trayner users have found they can give up their conventional glasses.

Computer Users - Why are computer screens a problem?

The eyes of computer users spend a lot of time focused at the distance of the screen. This can be stressful for the muscles of the eyes which can cause a build up of tension around the eyes leading to sore eyes and even headaches. If it is possible to use Trayner pinhole glasses while working at the computer they will help the eyes focus more easily allowing them to relax more.

The prolonged close focusing involved with computer use can produce short sight in time. This tendency can be averted by watching TV with Trayner pinhole glasses to relax the eyes.
The pinholes need to be worn for only a short periods a day, while you continue to wear your normal glasses or contact lenses the rest of the time. They have been connected to reduced heart rates when they are worn by VDU users.

''I wore them every day for 15 minutes and after a month, my eyes were stronger and clearer. My eyestrain and headaches have gone and my eyes feel so rested when I take them off. I'm hooked and will continue to use them.''

Myopia
Woman's Own (29/09/97) 'Pinhole Glasses - we test them'

''I feel they've strengthened my eyes and if I give it a bit longer, I might be able to bin my prescription glasses for good." "There has been a slight improvement in my eyesight since I've been wearing them. Lately, I've been able to watch TV without wearing my prescription glasses.''

Daily Mail (1/07/97) - 'Pinhole glasses put my eyesight back into focus'

'Maggie Gold, 53, from West Hampstead, London, is a partner in a property development company and has been using the pinhole glasses for more than five years. Last year an optician told her that she no longer needed to wear spectacles as her eyesight has returned to a healthy 20/20 vision.' She says: "I began wearing the alternative glasses when I was doing close work or reading a book as my vision was blurring over. I already had short sightedness and astigmatism and had been wearing glasses for 20 years.''

What users say

"Over the last 18 months I have been doing some reading and some TV viewing as advised. This January when I had my eyes tested the prescription for the right eye was weaker than previously and that of my left eye has stayed the same. After wearing glasses for 30 years and with the prescription getting progressively stronger over the last 10 years I was very pleased with the result." Lorna Mills (Oldham)

"I wore a pair of Trayner pinhole glasses mostly for reading and TV. When I had my glasses changed a few months back (bifocals) the man testing my sight was amazed to find my prescription for both long and short sight had improved 50%." James Turner (Cheltenham)

Presbyopia
"May I say how very pleased I have been with them. By reading the paper each morning using the glasses, I find my eyes have 'woken up' and I almost never need any other use of spectacles. This is after eight years of total dependence." Derry Jones (North Yorks)

"I have been wearing glasses for reading and driving for over 30 years, I am 65 years old. Well now I find I do not have to use my real glasses, but if I find when I read the morning papers and its not as clear as I like, I use your Trayner pinhole glasses for 10 minutes for 3 or 4 evenings and it corrects it lovely. In fact, I seem to have mislaid both my driving and reading glasses." John D.C.Rhodes ( Middx)

"Every time my eyesight goes down a bit I wear the Trayner pinhole glasses for a couple of weeks and my eyesight goes back to normal." Mrs C.Pegoraro (Oxford)

"Now, with Trayner pinhole glasses, I can read the smallest imaginable type, and thread needles, even in artificial light, and would not dream of going anywhere without them. Far more than 'exercise' glasses, they have replaced my optician's spectacles. I cannot thank you enough for marketing such a wonderful invention." Ginny Barnfield (Bristol)

Computers
"I use your glasses with my computer and could not do without them." David F. Peters - Ellis (Gloucester.)

"Not only did they help eyestrain but they seemed to protect my eyes when I was using the computer. Before they would get bloodshot and itchy after I'd been looking at the screen for a while. But when I used the pinholes those symptoms no longer occurred." Maggie Gold (London)

"I am a fan of Trayner pinhole glasses. I wear them for a certain amount of time every day and I believe they have been instrumental in improving my eyesight, which was on a downward curve before I found them." Julian Roberts (London)

"I loaned a pair of your glasses to my mother (78) to try, they transformed her vision for watching TV. Please send my replacement A.S.A.P." C.D.Turner

Trayner FAQ

Q. If I wear my strong glasses after using my Trayner glasses won't I undo the benefits?

A. Trayner glasses are not meant to be a complete alternative to conventional glasses, they are intended as exercise glasses. Eye exercise, like any other exercise does not need to be continued all day to obtain the benefits.

Q. Can I stop wearing my Trayner glasses when my eyesight has improved?

A. As with any exercise system, the benefits wear off if you stop exercising. Once your eyes are fit, however, less frequent exercise with Trayner glasses will maintain them.

Q. Will I have to keep on getting my prescription changed as my eyesight improves?

A. Trayner glasses help to build up flexibilty in the eyes. This will not itself require a change in prescription. If you would like to change to a weaker prescription to help your eyes improve further, then the flexibility gained with the Trayner glasses will allow you to do so comfortably.

Q. Can Trayner glasses damage my eyes?

A. The Trayner glasses are not forcing your eyes to do anything. They simply make it easier for the eyes to decide how to focus. The worst you can do is to make your eyes tired with too much exercise. This is just a sign that you are trying to do too much too soon.

Wear Trayner glasses during your usual daily activities, no specific exercises are required. To improve your near vision use them for close work such as reading (with increased illumination if necessary). To improve your distant focusing use your pinhole glassess for viewing in the distance such as watching T.V. and relaxing out of doors.

‘Bad eyesight is known to be caused by too much strain in the eye muscles. Some developed reduced eyesight through doing alot of close work such as studying using a computer or reading in bed (particularly children reading under the bedclothes). ‘Others as they get older find it difficult to focus close to. When faced with a blurred image, the brain moves the focus of the eye in and out a little looking for an increase in contrast. If no contrast is found the brain leaves the eye unfocused.

‘The pinhole spectacles sharpen up the image. The holes are spaced to provide an artificially small pupil whichever way the eye focuses. The muscle of the eye is then stretched so the eye can focus again. ‘Myopia – short-sightedness – presbyopia- long sightedness – occur do to the condition of the muscle inside of the eye.

Looking through the pinholes makes blurred vision sharper, even though they look as if it could be obscured. This can help people, focus in the distance, watch TV or see close or small print where they had previously needed glasses.

Studies have shown that wearing them for only 15 to 20 minutes a day helps the focusing muscles of the eye to grow stronger. There are notice improvements within a few weeks.

In many cases eyesight has been corrected back to 20/20 vision, alleviating long and short-sightedness and even curing stigmatism after long periods of wearing time.. The principle and the theory behind pinholes glasses of central focusing has been around for the last 100 years and discovered by ‘Bates’ a pioneering optician, who developed exercises, which achieved the same aim of using the eye correctly without straining. ‘very few people are born with poor vision, most is acquired,’ he says.

The lens is flexible and connected by fibres to the muscle. The tension in these fibres stretch the lens into a flattened shape which lets it bring distant objects into focus. For near objects, the muscle pulls in, reducing the tension in the lens, which fattens to adjust to the focus.

Orthodox glasses have shown that, over time, they encourage the eye to become lazy and the vision gets weaker. Corrective lenses do not allow eye muscles to be exercised so that you can see into the distance but they remain tense and distorted. Stronger prescriptions are then given.

Trayner Pinhole Glasses that are Good for Heart & Eyes

Experiments by Trayner have shown that when looking at a computer screen, the eyes begins to release stress hormones after a few minutes because of the fixed focus required. This raises the heart rate by 5 per cent, causing tension around the shoulders, which can lead to headaches.

‘The pinholes, being smaller than the eye’s normal pupil size, relax the eye without losing the clarity of image. The reduced tension in the eye is felt immediately and, within minutes, the heart rate returns to normal, ‘says Mr Duthie.

Maggie Gold , 53 from West Hampstead, London is a partner in a property development company and has been wearing the pinhole glasses for more than 5 years. Last year an optician told her that she no longer needed to wear spectacles as her eyesight has returned to a healthy 20/20 vision.

She says: ‘ I began wearing the alternative glasses for 20 years. ‘The effects were immediate. As soon as I put them on I was amazed at the clarity of my vision and continued to wear them for 15 minutes a day, sometimes more. ‘Within a few weeks I noticed that my eyesight was beginning to improve without even wearing the glasses. I would go to a restaurant and see the menu clearly or I’d pick up a newspaper and read the small print without squinting or going out of focus.

‘And not only did they help eyestrain but they seemed to protect my eyes when I was using the computer. Before, they would get bloodshot and itchy after I’d been looking at the screen for a while. But when I used the pinholes those symptoms no longer occurred.’
